**********************

You're a Grand
Ol' Flag,
You're a high flying flag.....

And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of the land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
Ev'ry heart beats true'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should old acquaintance be forgot,

Keep your eye on that
Grand old flag!

I hope that you all had a wonderful Fourth of July.....
it went by so fast for us.
We had a small barbque with close family only
a nice break from our usual large party.
Some photos of our home all decorated for
America's Birthday Party...

The porch was all decorated patriotically waiting for our guests to arrive....

I love the fourth of July,
the cheerful colors of our nations flag decorate our home.

Here is our desert station....
a cake carrier holds the pie ontop and strawberry shortcake below...
keeping them safe from my two year olds fingers
and the inevitable summer bugs.

Independence Day menu 2009....
and drink station below. I like to keep things in seperate areas of my kitchen when entertaining to keep the flow moving around my island.
Everyone likes to hang out in the kitchen no matter what I do though!

A patriotic hat box that I made in 2008.....
Some homemade star boxes stacked brighten up the corner.
Star Spangled banner sign,
will be listed in the Mercantile sooner or later...
I tried for sooner but will now be later!

I love this photo of my grandmother and father
when he was a baby many, many, summers ago.
It sits safely on the end table in the front parlor.

My entry foyer greets you with some patriotic folkart.

A red cupboard in the corner of our family room.....
I just popped some flags in my ironstone pitchers.
Below a small picture I made from a post card.

The old marshmallow tin,
an ebay win from several years ago.
It comes out with my summer decor every year.
THE CELEBRATION!!
Some Fireworks or boom, booms,
as my two year old son calls them...

My son falling asleep ontop of my hubs head....
a looong fun day for him.

Our small town really puts on a nice display and it is all funded solely by private donations. We usually watch the fireworks on a blanket in the lcoal park but this year it was undergoing a complete overhaul and they shot the fireworks over the lake but we couldn't get into the park. We all sat in our local market parking lot...it was nice but not the same...I had a great time anyway though and ooohhhhed, and ahhhhhhed the whole time.
May God Bless America,
we are truly blessed to live in such a country!!
I must say that I think extra prayer is in order for our country with the current state of things, I can only pray that our children are able to celebrate the fourth of July with the same pride that we do some day. That they may know the full meaning of the holiday and the sacrafice that it is born from, that this country was built upon the backs of hardworking Americans, not from the bailouts of our current government. I pray for peace, healing, conviction and courage for our nation.....and that we can recover from all that is current and get back to what our forefathers intended and fought for~ all they hoped this country would be........
One nation under god.
But it is the Amercian Sprit to overcome, and in the end we shall.
I hope your holiday was as wonderful as ours....
I hope to post a little more often than I have been,
our summer will hopefully be a little more relaxing next week!

Take Care now,
Dee

  1. Dee,
Everything looks super! I love how cheery and patriotic even your food serving things were. The campfire tin has been a favorite of mine for a long time. I just love all your signs too.

  3. Hi Dee,
I love your blog! Your patriotic decorations are awesome. I love your backsplash in your kitchen. Did you do it yourself? I am wanting to change my countertops and can't decide between pressed tin and beadboard for my backsplash! I also noticed that you are a Nickle Creek fan. We are too! We have seen them twice--Gruene, Texas and Helotes, Texas.
My husband was inspired to begin learning to play the mandolin after hearing them.
    Blessings,
